Elsu wins Interdominion

Elsu became New Zealand's first $2 million pacer when he won the $750,000 Interdominion final Thursday night at Alexandra Park.



The win comes one week after Elsu's trainer, Geoff Small, reportedly fell asleep while transporting the horse back to his farm after the Interdominion eliminations. Small reportedly said he briefly fell asleep but quickly awoke just before running off the road.



"It is a wake-up call for all of us who start at 5 a.m. and are still going at 1 a.m. the next morning," Small, the leading trainer in New Zealand, told the New Zealand Herald.
