Elvis Cole made it two straight wins stepping up after taking the Jr. Open last week to score a 1:55.2 triumph in the week's top trot Wednesday at Dover Downs. Corey Callahan had to use the Lindy Lane gelding hard twice to take the lead for good heading to the clubhouse turn and then continued on for his eighth win of the season. Master Pine came from far back for Tim Tetrick for place with Valley Sport and Tony Morgan third. Elvis Cole, now a winner of $119,925 this year is owned by Parker Callahan and trainer Nick Callahan. The win was one of three for driver Corey Callahan.
The sub-feature $23,000 Jr. Open trot was as easy as one-two-three. The 9-1 shot Sugar Valley Alley, owned, trained and driven by Carlo Poliseno. got his chance when Oneforthemaster and Morgan pulled out of second to engage front-trotting Grand Photo, driven by Bob Shahan, cutting out all but the finals strides in a 1:55.4 mile. Sugar Valley Alley rolled down the passing lane to catch the leaders in deep stretch and score a half-length win, his seventh of the season. . In a $13,000 conditioned trot, Morgan picked his third winner of the night steering Lloyd Arnold's Ms. Virginia, fifth in last week's Matron final, to her ninth win of the year in a lifetime-best 1:56. The CR Commando filly overtook front-trotting Tom Bruce (Tetrick) in mid stretch and drew away for the win. Johnny Peanuts (Carlo Poliseno) was the third-place finisher. Jim Morand drove Sandys Attitude to a 1:57.2 victory in a $10,000 trot for her third win in a row.. Brandon Givens and Nanticoke Racing own the Ilooklikemymom mare, one of five females among eight starters. Mystery Solved (Jim King), a CR Commando mare, was runner-up with Twin B Tween (Mike Cole) third. (Dover Downs)
