Dave Palone was in the bike for trainer Richie Gillock as the Broadway Hall colt made a sensational season’s debut. On the board in 12 of 15 starts last year for earnings of $360,192, Encore Encore won the Bluegrass, was second in the Valley Victory and third in the Wellwood. He is Hambletonian eligible. The first division was won by Sherman’s Mountain in 1:57.1. He was driven by Dave Palone for trainer Chris Oakes and owners Susan Oakes, David Scharf and Rick Phillips. The win was the fifth in eight starts this season for the Broadway Hall colt. Jaavos Boy took the third division, winning in 1:56 for the JML Stables and trainer Buzzy Sholty. Eric Ledford steered the SJ’s Caviar gelding to his second win of the season. The fourth division saw Copy Catch, a son of Cantab Hall, win the first race of his career in 1:56.3. Dave Palone was in the bike for trainer Jimmy Takter and owners Lindy racing, Adam Victor and Son and Blue Chip Bloodstock. Copy Catch is Hambletonian eligible. Another Cantab Hall colt wrapped up the final elimination when Citation Lindy went wire-to-wire in 1:55.2.
