Erma La Em captured the $22,500 second leg of the Blossom Series for 3-year-old pacing fillies in 1:54.1 Thursday night at the Meadowlands.
Cheyenne Trish and Andy Miller cut the mile with fractions of :28.3, :58 and 1:27, but couldn’t hold of the late-stretch dual between Erma La Em and Cartniverous, who battled to the wire with Erma La Em prevailing by a head. Ron Pierce was in the bike as Erma La Em won her third straight for owner Joseph Barbera and trainer Steve Le Blanc. She was, however, scratched sick from last week’s opening round of the Blossom Series. Last week’s winner, the undefeated Tug River Princess, took the week off from the Blossom Series to race in the $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund final at Dover Downs tonight.
