March 11, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Eleven AM took the lead entering the first turn of Friday night's feature at Pompano Park and never looked back, winning the Open Handicap Pace in 1:52.2 to score his second victory in three starts this year.

Driven by the track’s leading pilot Bruce Ranger, Eleven AM outfought the New Zealand import Lislight N (David Ingraham) for the early lead, taking the field through an opening quarter mile in :27.4. After slowing things down with a moderate second panel in :29.2 to reach the half-mile marker in :57.1, Eleven AM continued to pace confidently on the lead through a three-quarters split in 1:25.2.

He entered the stretch with a 1 1/2-length advantage and was never threatened down the lane, prevailing over a late closing Golden Mattjesty (Mickey McNichol). The pocket-sitting Lislight N crossed the wire third.

Owned by the Berry Stables of Staten Island, N.Y., and trained by Tom Beckette, Eleven AM won for the 17th time in his career on Saturday while pushing his lifetime earnings mark over $338,000.

During his juvenile campaign, the son of Falcon Seelster scored victories in the $125,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final and the $69,200 Niatross, both at the Meadowlands. (Pompano Park)
