Stablemates Mr. Delight and Moonlite Jazz finished one-two for trainer Mark Ford in opening round action of the Exit 16W Series Friday night at the Meadowlands. Other division winners were Mattscape Seelster and Deliver The Goods.

In the second of three $20,000 divisions Mr. Delite and Ron Pierce ground out a first-over trip from the half then shot into the lead in deep stretch, defeating Moonlite Jazz and Eric Ledford by about 2 lengths in a lifetime best 1:50.3. Pace-setting American Fury was third for Cat Manzi. The winner is a 4-year-old ridgeling son of The Panderosa owned by Martin Scharf.

In the first division Mattscape Seelster swooped into the lead off second-over cover and scored his first victory of the year in five starts for John Campbell in 1:51.4. JA's Outlaw and Yannick Gingras split horses to be second with David Miller and He's A Nice Guy third. The winning Artiscape 4 year old is owned and trained by Jerry Sims.

In the third division driver Brian Sears sent Deliver The Goods to the early lead and the 4-year-old Richess Hanover gelding delivered from there, holding off George At Bigs and George Brennan at the wire in 1:52.1. Marced Card and Manzi were third. Ken Rucker trains the winner for Niss Allen Inc.
