Exit 16W Series underway

Two legs of the Exit 16W Series for 4 year olds were contested at the Meadowlands Friday night, and the only big surprise was that the fast Devilfih broke stride and finished last in the second split. The divisions were won by Western Shore in 1:51.4 and JK CU Later in 1:52.3.

Western Shore turned in a powerful performance, starting from post eight and then rolling to a 5 3/4-length score with a last quarter in :26.4. George Brennan drove the 4-year-old Western Hanover stalllion for owners Brittany Farms, Ron Michelon, the Erv Miller Stable and Riverview Farms.

JK CU Later kept his 2007 slate unblemished with his fifth triumph in as many starts. Fresh off a victory in the $85,000 Clyde Hirt final on Jan. 26, he coasted to a 2 3/4-length tally in 1:52.3.

The 3 Brothers Stables bred and owns JK CU Later, a 4-year-old gelding by Artiscape.
