Two days of Review Stakes at the Illinois State Fair came to a conclusion with Express Glide capturing the $70,000 Review-Greyhound in 1:59.3 for his second victory in as many starts. Earlier, Jeansandatshirt won the $38,000 Review for freshman filly trotters in 1:57.3. Express Glide, with Brent Holland in the bike, sat fourth at the rail as Magic Carpet Ride and Andy Miller got away with pedestrian fractions of :29.4, 1:02.1 and 1:32.1. But by the head of the stretch Express Glide had come first-over to challenge the leader, and with a final panel in :27.2 swept into the lead for the victory over Southwind Tagar and Brandon Simpson with The Vatican and Dewayne Minor third. A $125,000 yearling purchase from the Brittany Farms consignment at the Lexington Select Yearling Sale, the son of Yankee Glide has won both of his starts for trainer Ervin Miller and owners Jack and Peggy Hood, Ken Duffy and Mystical Marker Farms. In the Review Stakes freshman filly trot, Andy Miller moved Jeansandatshirt to the lead after an opening half in 1:00.4 and with a last quarter in :28 breezed to her second straight victory in five starts. Spiceberry Hanover and Mike Oosting were second with Greathearted and Brooke Nickells third. Bred by Kentuckiana Farms Gen Par and Mar-Lo Stables, the daughter of Self Possessed was a $40,000 yearling purchase and is also trained by Ervin Miller for Mystical Marker Farms, Shim Racing and the Ervin Miller Stable. In other Review Stakes action Tuesday evening, Don’t Deny Me (Allamerican Ingot) captured the $30,000 three-year-old filly pace in 1:51.1 for Michael Oosting and Vette man (Artiscape) won the $37,000 Review-Baker 3-year-old colt and gelding pace in 1:50.1 for Brandon Simpson.
