Fake Denario N won the $37,500 Preferred Pace in a flashy 1:50.4 and Black Cat Bone took the $35,000 Delaware Special in 1:52.4, both driven by Ron Pierce, who completed the card with five wins on Monday, Jan. 22 at Dover Downs.
Ron Pierce almost canceled his drives because of the onset a stomach virus, but reconsidered. Among a five-win night, Pierce guided Denario N to his second straight victory in the week's top pace. Getting away sixth in the select field with race favorite Lather Machine and Tim Tetrick back after two weeks off, Pierce moved his Fake Left gelding up on the outside uncovered to ultimately challenge Lather Machine for the lead on the backstretch. Past the three quarters, Fake Denario N got the lead on the outside and coming off the final turn the 7 year old began to pull away for a convincing two-lengh victory. David Miller and Driven To Win closed strongly to finish second in front of Lather Machine.
Fake Denario has won two of his three starts in 2007 and $35,000 in purses for owner Martin Scharf of Lawrence, N.Y.
In the $35,000 Delaware Special, Pierce sent Ericka Paradee's Black Cat Bone three wide at the three quarters to loop the front battling pair and then quickly opened up a big lead on the way to a1:52.4 success. Tim Tetrick drove Art Director to a second-place finish with Bully McCool N and Brandon Givens third.
The $27,500 Open pace was won by Rodney Long and Tim Hundertpfund's Midnight Walk in 1:52.2. Lotsa Guy finished second for Tony Morgan. Nvincbl Artist and Tim Tetrick cut out the early pace and had to settle for third.
Crystal Art, owned by Bob, Greg Laham and Carolyn Franklin, was strongest in the stretch for Jim Morand, in a 1:52.3 mile to win the first of three $220,000 Winners-Over paces. Victor Vuitton N, reined by Ron Pierce, was next. Gold Rocket A, steered by Tony Morgan took third honors.
Tom Kelly's Print It, driven by Ron Pierce, powered to a 1:51.4 triumph in another $22,000 Winners-Over paces. Artchie Andrews with Brian Sears closed well to finish second. Real Good Thing and Ross Wolfenden was the show finisher.
Brandon Givens drove his third winner on the card Noble Tess home in 1:52.3 for Chase and Johnny Waite. Gives made the winning move hustling past Gryffindor with Tim Tetrick and Motu Hat Track N and George Dennis slugging it out from the quarter until mid stretch. Roger Plante piloted Wizsell to second with Scotian Slick and Kevin Sizer third.
Neutron Bomb won for the third straight time turning in a big mile racing mostly on the outside until taking the lead on the last turn and then held off Streetcar (Tony Morgan) by a neck in 1:53.4 to win a $17,500 4-&-5-year-old pace. Armbro David (Tm Tetrick) as third. The win was the second for Ross Wolfenden, trainer Joe Hundertpfund and owner Tim Hundertpfund.
In a $15,000 4-&-5-year-old pace, Alton Lynch Sr.'s Shotaway N with Ron Pierce and Brandon Givens-driven Fake Ali, owned by Givens, Ron Waller and Nanticoke Racing, could not be separated by the photo finish camera in a 1:53.2 deadheat. Beretta Hall (Tony Morgan) was the third finisher.
What A View, off at 30-1, closed with a rush for Brandon Givens to notch a 1:52.4 victory in one of two $40,000 Claiming paces. Wayne Givens and Donick Stables owned the Cam's Card Shark gelding who won for the second straight time. Jason William N (Tony Morgan) and Dreamfair Titan (Brad Hanners) were second and third respectively.
Fred and Anita Fialkow's King Tutpankhamen took the lead at the start for Tim Tetrick on the way to a 1:53 win in the other $40,000 claimer. Ramblin Bunny (Tony Morgan) was runner-up while Cerignola (Brandon Givens) took the show spot.
Tim Tetrick drove Three Point Acres' Rockem N to a third consecutive victory taking the $30,000 Claimer with a strong finishing 1:52.2 win. Realiscape (Brad Hanners) took second with Real Ideal (Jim King) third.
Roger Plant and 10-1 shot Pure Class won a $25,000 Delaware Male Claiming pace. Marilyn Milbrand-owns the 1:52.3 winner who beat Triple The Money (Tony Morgan) and Tug River Jim (Ross Wolfenden) second and third respectively.
Three Point Acres and trainer Chuck Crissman picked up their second winner when Tony Morgan hustled Dreaming Big to a 1:55.3 win in a $20,000 claimer. Kikerran Scot (Brian Sears) was second in front of Cam Chuckles (Tim Curtin). (Dover Downs)
