A colt with a strong U.S. connection will be one of the major players in Australia’s richest 2-year-old race, the $A300,000 Australian Gold, Friday, April 23, at Tabcorp Park Menangle.
Jadahson, a son of Falcon Seelster-Jadah Rose, was one of the most impressive of the 10 heats winners for the Gold race last weekend at the Melton track. He’s now won three of his five starts, with this last in a mile rate of 1:59.1 over 1,720 meters.
Jadahson is a result of a embryo transfer foal taken from Jadah Rose, who built a fantastic career in Australia before a brief, but successful stint with trainer Peter Walsh in the U.S. before health problems forced her premature retirement. She won three of six starts in the U.S. in 2008, racing mostly in non-winners events at the Meadowlands. She took her career mark of 1:49.3 at the Meadowlands with Tim Tetrick driving.
There was a fascinating cross section of North American sires among the Gold heat winners. They were (Artsplace-Outa Credit); Dee Devito (Bettors Delight-Conrod Bent); Royal Verdict (Dawn Ofa New Day); Veracity Red (Presidential Ball-Little Fib); Just Grange (Art Major-Lillydale); Wotattitude (Jennas Beach Boy-Penny Kudos); Sign Of Inverell (Life Sign-Inverell) and Lonesome Mach (Mach Three-Little Phoebe).
