Falls For You proved to be the best in 1:53.4 as a host of 3-year-old filly trotters were spread out across the track nearing the wire in the $178,000 Moni Maker final Sunday night at The Red Mile. With Brian Sears in the bike, Falls For You raced fourth on the inside past the :55.2 half then picked up cover in the outer flow from Flash Lightning as the field, lead by last week’s elimination winner Gerri’s Joy, headed into the final turn. After the 1:24.3 third quarter Sears tipped his filly three wide and following him four wide was Possess The Magic. In the race to the wire it was Falls For You surging into the lead by about one-half length at the wire with Flash Lightning and Dan Shetler finishing second and Bruce Ranger bringing Gerri’s Joy home third. The victory was quite a turn around for Falls For You. The Yankee Glide filly made a break in the stretch during the elimination and finished 10th, which eliminated her from the final. But trainer Trond Smedshammer opted not to enter his eighth-placer finisher Flight Surgeon, which got Falls For You back in the final. This was the fourth triumph in 10 starts this year for Falls For You, who is owned by Atlantic Trot, Fair Winds Farm and Ted Geweretz. The mile was her lifetime best.
