Fans to vote in Jug poll

To celebrate the 60thanniversary of the Little Brown Jug, the race's officials are asking fans to select their favorite Jug winner and favorite Jug race.



From a list of favorite horses and races already compiled by a panel of 72 trainers, driver, owners, breeders and media, race fans can select their favorites. One horse and one race were selected to represent each of the six decades of the race. From that list voters are asked to select one horse and one race as their overall favorites. They include:



FAVORITE HORSE



1946-1955 -- Good Time



1956-1965 -- Bret Hanover



1966-1975 -- Most Happy Fella



1976-1985 -- Niatross



1986-1995 -- Life Sign



1996-2004 -- No Pan Intended



FAVORITE RACE



1946-1955

1951 -- Tar Heel (Del Cameron) defeats stablemate Solicitor (Delvin Miller) in

World Record 2:00.



1956-1965

1965 -- Delaware native and trackman Curly Smart worked a sea of mud into

World Record condition for Frank Ervin and Bret Hanover.



1966-1975

1971 -- Trainer-driver Herve Filion yelled at Nansemond in both French and

English as his colt scored a major upset over Stanley

Dancer and Albatross.



1976-1985

1980 -- Niatross established World Records of 1:55 and 1:54.4 for

trainer-driver Clint Galbraith.



1986-1995

1993 --Life Sign, driven by John Campbell and trained by Ohioan Gene Riegle,

overcomes a tough trip and guts out a victory over Riyadh and Presidential

Ball.



1996-2004

2001 --Mike Lachance scored his record tying fifth Jug victory as Bettor's

Delight defeated Real Desire and Four Starzzz Shark in a stakes record 1:51.4.



Voting begins today on the U.S. Trotting Association web site (www.ustrotting.com) and will continue for two weeks. Fans are asked to vote only once in each poll.
