Laguna Beach led the field at every call en route to a career best 1:50.1 victory in the $19,000 SNY Series Thursday night at the Meadowlands.
Laguna Beach floated to the lead around the opening turn and coasted through fractions of :27.2, :55.3 and 1:23.2 before firing off a :26.4 final quarter. Thanks For Stoppin sat a pocket trip, but could not catch Laguna Beach, who drew off by 1 3/4 lengths. Dinneratartsplace was a distanced third. With the red-hot hands of David Miller at the lines, Laguna Beach paid $10 to win the night’s sixth race. Miller won four of the first six races, and five total, on the Thursday card.
Laguna Beach has now won five of 26 starts and $53,065 for trainer Ken Rucker and co-owners Marty Engel, Robert Feldman and Panhellenic Stable. (Meadowlands)
