Freshmen Unrecognized Saint and Robin I Scoot cruised to impressive victories in the second round of Indiana Sires Stakes action Tuesday, July 24. Each won their respective $12,000 division at Indiana Downs with dominating 1:54.2 performances while Electric Lad captured the third split with a late rally at the wire in 1:56.3. Unrecognized Saint put on a powerful display for the second consecutive week, winning Tuesday’s second division by four lengths. The Capital Request gelding was guided by Trace Tetrick for trainer Charlie Morgan. The freshman, owned by Dot Morgan, knocked nearly four seconds off his last start, a 1:58.3 triumph in the first round of ISS competition. “He acts like an old horse on the track,” commented Tetrick. “He went to the front easy and we were able to get some nice fractions. In the stretch he was looking around to see if anyone was around.” Robin I Scoot added his fourth win of the season in the first split on the card. Driven by Mike Peterson, the I Scoot Hanover gelding raced on the fair circuit before sires stakes opened at Indiana Downs. He is now a perfect two-for-two for trainer Dan Perdue and owner Ambalal Patel, winning Tuesday by a length and a half. “We reached the half in :57.3, which was a little more than I wanted,” explained Peterson, “but he felt pretty comfortable doing it, so I thought he was alright. He’s a nice colt.” In the final $12,000 division Electric Lad put a head in front at the wire to earn his first career win for trainer Charles Clickner. The Electric Yankee gelding was sent off as third choice in the field of 10. Owned by Miller’s Stable Inc. of DeLeon Springs, Fla., Electric Lad was driven to victory by Walter Haynes Jr. “He’s got a lot of talent. You can do anything you want once he gets going,” Haynes noted.
