Favorites Allamerican Chief, Bet The Town and Eragon won their respective $12,500 divisions of the opening round of the Art Unger Series for 4-year-old pacers Friday night at the Meadowlands.

Yannick Gingras directed Allamerican Chief to a career-best 1:51.3 score in the first of the three Unger divisions that were carded as the first three races on the Good Friday evening program. The win was the third in eight starts this year for the son of Cam's Card Shark trained by John Bavosi for owners Ruth Ann O'Brien, Robert Rinaldi and Francis Tarricone.

Brian Sears was in the sulky as Bet The Town--the 1-2 favorite--scored an easy win in 1:53.1 in the second Unger split. A son of Bettor's Delight, Bet The Town is trained by Ray Schnittker for the Bet The Town Stable. The career-best win was his fourth in 11 starts this year.

Eragon captured the final Unger split in a career-best 1:53 for driver George Brennand and trainer-owner Peter Kleinhans. A son of Dragon Again, Eragon closed out the mile with a final quarter of :27.3 to win for the fifth time in eight starts this year.
