Favorites sweep Town Pro divisions at Mohawk

July 01, 2008 | Print View

It was a good night for the favorites on Monday at Mohawk Racetrack as all were victorious in the three $18,000(C) divisions in the opening leg of the Town Pro Pacing Series for 3-year-old fillies.

In the opening split, Autumn Magic used her early speed to overcome post eight and then gutted out a solid 1:53.2 front-end score for driver Rick Zeron. The daughter of Jenna's Beach Boy-Swinging Rita turned back Marla Hanover who was closing hard at the finish. Longshot Intrinsic Value picked up the show spot.

The victory was the third of the season in 20 starts for the Herb Holland trainee who is owned by Corrine Ryan of Ontario and Jack Gray of Kentucky. Her seasonal bankroll now sits at just over $57,000.

Go Get Her made easy work of her rivals in the second split with a sharp 1:52.4 tally for Jack Moiseyev. The heavy favorite made a quarter-pole move to the lead and then cruised to a three-length victory over Lizabel and Grayland Bliss.

The daughter of Western Hanover-Sweethearts Dance has now won three of her five starts this season for trainer Mark Austin and owner Michael Cecile of Windsor, Ontario. The lion's share of the purse increased her career earnings to just over $120,000.

In the final division, the heavily backed Unique Legacy needed every inch of racetrack to haul down pacesetting Lola Palooza in 1:53.3. The Real Desire-Unique X Ample filly sat fourth throughout the mile before making her move in the third quarter. The top pair battled all the way to the wire with Unique Legacy winning by a head. Longshot Age Of Consent finished a close third.

It was the fifth trip to the charmed circle this season in just six starts for the Casie Coleman pupil who is owned by Robert Hamather of Exeter, Ont. The win vaulted her seasonal earnings to just over $37,000. (WEG)
