Fa Mulan and Only Lonely were both winning favorites in Monday night's second leg of the Celias Counsel Trotting Series for 3-year-old fillies at Woodbine Racetrack.

In the opening $18,000(C) split, Fa Mulan went straight to the front from the outside post eight for driver Mike Saftic and wired the field for her sixth win of the season in just eight outings. Whatever Lolawants was a game second with Keystone Bride grabbing the show spot.

The 1:59 clocking was a new lifetime mark for the daughter of Berndt Hanover-Orianna Seelster who is trained by Richard Griffiths for owners Ming and Irene Siu of Richmond, B.C.

Only Lonely took over command in the second quarter in her division and then held on for a hard-fought 1:58.1 tally for driver Luc Ouellette. The daughter of Yankee Paco-Too Good For You turned back Warrawee June and Sophisticat.

The winner is now two-for-two this season for Chris Beaver who trains for owner Tom Crouch of Lexington, Ky.

The final of the Celias Counsel Series will be contested next Monday night at Woodbine. (WEG)
