Boss Hoss Power and Trace Tetrick raced second while Master’s Secret hit the wire third.
Owned by DM Stables LLC of Florida and trained by Bobby Brower, ABC Photo has won four of five career starts. Out of S J’s Photo mare SJ’s Valentine, the freshman has banked $46,200 this season. The winning time established a new mark for the race favorite.
Shetler returned to the winner’s circle five races later, guiding Super Beat to an upset victory in the $30,000 second division for trotting colts. The Verlin Yoder-owned and trained Super Ben Joe freshman stopped the clock in 2:01.2. Solvent trotted second for trainer Dave White and favored Earl’s Glider finished third.
Starting from post nine, Shetler moved Super Beat out third in the early going as Costeffective Don posted fractions of :29.4 and 1:01.3. The veteran driver pulled his colt from the rail and established a half-length lead racing first up at three quarters (1:32.3). The fourth choice extended to a one and one-half length lead in the stretch before reaching the wire with a two and one-quarter length advantage. The victory was the second in eight starts for Super Beat, a winner of $33,840 this season.
Hoosier Cheetah and Rick Farrington used a pocket trip to their advantage in the $25,000 first division for filly trotters, dashing home in :28.4 to win by three and one-quarter lengths. The victory was the first for the Butler Hall lass, trained by Steve Waller. Ideal Secret secured the place spot and Perfect In Time completed the trifecta.
Sent off as the betting favorite, Hoosier Cheetah and Farrington raced on the outside from post five, advancing first up from third at the quarter (:30.1) to take the point. The duo were soon shuffled to second as Double A Earlybird grabbed the lead and clicked off fractions of 1:00.2 and 1:32 before turning for home. Once in the stretch, Hoosier Cheetah put away the leader and trotted the fastest final panel of the field to reach the wire first. The filly is owned by Jerry Cunningham of Friendswood, Texas.
Heavy favorite Msnaughtybynature and Peter Wrenn captured the $30,000 second split for fillies with a 2:00.2 effort Wednesday. The Scramble Ranger freshman got the jump on second choice Call Me Ching and Shetler to win by a length and a quarter. Skit Er Done finished third for trainer Larry Rheinheimer.
Lining up behind the gate in post four, Wrenn grabbed the pocket seat behind early leader Skit Er Done before moving to the front as the field raced down the backstretch. Msnaughtybynature reached the half in 1:01.1, opening up by three lengths. The favorite flashed past the three quarter mile marker in 1:31.2 and maintained her advantage to the wire. Call Me Ching, third at the top of the stretch, closed hard but could not make up the difference, finishing second.
