Feathers ruffled at Woodbine

Return Home
May 12, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Feathers were flying during the first race at Woodbine Racetrack Friday night--literally--as a gaggle of Canadian geese made their way onto the racetrack as the night's opening field headed toward the three-quarter pole. The stewards determined that two of the horses were bothered by the ruckus and ordered wagers on the duo be refunded.

Three Kilo and driver Mark MacDonald won the race in 1:51, while sixth-place finisher Armbro Caviar (Chris Christoforou), who was first-over at the time of the commotion and was rattled the most by the invasion, and fourth-place finisher Carolina Moon (Randy Waples) had all bets on them returned to the punters.

Reports indicate that drivers, horses and geese emerged unruffled.
