October 30, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Seelster Farms is pleased to announce the addition of the incredibly talented and impeccably-bred trotter Federal Flex to their stallion roster starting with the 2010 breeding season. Like Muscle Hill, Mr. Muscleman, Deweycheatumnhowe, etc., Federal Flex is a son of the great Muscles Yankee. He is the second foal of the SJ's Photo daughter Scully FBI, a very talented race mare who earned over $550,000 during her career and is a full sister to the $611, 890 winner San Remo Kosmos.

A beautiful horse, as shown by his $100,000 yearling price, Federal Flex quickly made that back and much more once he began his racing career. He captured his first four lifetime starts which included a sweep of the Bridger Trotting Series at Mohawk, the Champlain Stakes, by four lengths in his rookie record time of 1:56.1, and an elimination of the William Wellwood Memorial. His 1:56.4 victory in the Bridger final, his second career start, established a new stakes record.

In addition Federal Flex captured the $718,000(C) Valley Victory final at Woodbine. He was second, by less than a length in his Breeders Crown elimination and third to Muscle Hill in the final after leaving from post 10. At the conclusion of the season he was named Canada’s 2-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year.

This year at three the colt made just six starts, winning half of those including his Goodtimes elimination and final at Mohawk. He also was victorious in the Stanley Dancer Memorial, winning by more than five lengths at the Meadowlands in his life best 1:53.3.

He retires with a summary of 8-2-1 in 15 starts for $735,534 in earnings. Federal Flex will stand for an introductory fee of $5,000(C). Syndication shares are available. For further information, please contact Ann Straatman at Seelster Farms (519) 227-4294. (Seelster Farms)
