Herve Filion, a member of the harness racing’s Hall Of Fame and the winingest driver in the history of the sport with more than 15,000 wins, will be sidelined for some time following a racing mishap Monday afternoon at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in which he shattered his right wrist. According to Herve’s son, Brandon, the veteran driver underwent surgery at the Geisinger Medical Center, Plains Township. Filion, who is 67 years of age, also suffered a dislocated right shoulder when the horse he was driving, Richard’s Thunder, went down shortly after the start of the sixth race. Filion was unseated along with W. Bart Dalious, who was driving Dynamic Rayzer. Both Filion and Dalious were taken to the hospital by ambulance with the latter being treated and released. Dalious sustained two sprained ankles. Both 3-year-old horses apparently escaped serious injuries in the spill involving the two horses and drivers. (Pocono Downs)
