There were two filly trotters who scored victories of particular note at The Red Mile Monday night. They were Grand Cameron, the first foal from the ill-fated Cameron Hall, and Grand Cameron scored her first career triumph in a late closing series leg after beginning her season with three straight second-place finishes. Dan Shetler was in the bike for trainer Bob Stewart as Grand Cameron trotted a :28.3 final quarter to defeat the favored Sugarcane Yankee and Marquis Johansson by 1 3/4 lengths in 1:57.4. Diamond Creek Farm owns the daughter of Yankee Glide. On July 30 Cameron Hall, who took a mark of 1:53.4 and earned $1.8 million during her illustrious racing career, was euthanized after contracting a non-reversible condition that involved her small intestine.
