Vanilla Rainbow converted off a pocket trip to capture Thursday night's $47,500(C) Ontario-sired Autumn Series for 3-year-old filly trotters at Woodbine Racetrack. In reign to Paul MacDonell, the daughter of Mr. Lavec-Miss Vanilla was able to work out a perfect trip behind pacesetting Conch U Catch Me through splits of :28.2, :57.4 and 1:27.4. The final outcome was in doubt right up until the final strides when Vanilla Rainbow edged past to win by a nose. It was another length and a half back to Black Diamond Star who finished third. It was just the second win of the campaign in 19 starts for the Mark Austin trainee and boosted her seasonal bankroll to more than $65,000 for Austin, who co-owns along with Robert Pooley. (WEG)
