Five Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) $20,000 eliminations were contested for trotters Sunday at Harrington Raceway with Brandon Givens and Walter Blacharski's Man of Science (2:01.3, Givens) and Ron Hill and Virginia Keeler's Indian Hill Mojoe (2:01.1, Hill) winners in the colt divisions. Meanwhile on the filly side, Commando Queen (2:00.3, Victor Kirby) was the fastest winner of both sexes. The CR Commando filly made a big move up the backstretch and surged by to open up a four-length lead on her foes. She is owned by Patchel Family Stable, Brent Outten, Virginia Fischer and the Green Racing Stable. The biggest surprise of the day came when usually sure-footed Juanita, owned and driven by Jim Morand, made an uncharacteristic break in stride just after the start. The talented CR Commando filly, who had won 13 of 14 career starts, recovered nicely and overcame a 15-length deficit to win the race, however was disqualified for causing interference during her break. As a result, Susan Durham and Linda MacDonald's Miss Eleanor D was placed first. Bob and Deborah Rementer's Kisses on Command (2:04.1, Roger Plante Jr.) won the remaining filly division. The second leg will be contested on June 22, while the $100,000 finals will go postward on July 24, during Governor's Day at the Delaware State Fair. (Harrington)
