Jet Lag N took the overland route then rallied in the lane to capture the $43,000 Open for mares in 1:51.3 at The Meadowlands Friday night (Dec. 10). That performance came just one race after Artbitration easily handled a field of fillies and mares in a lifetime best 1:52.2.

Jet Lag N, with Cat Manzi in the bike, was parked with cover to the half in :55. Then the 5-year-old daughter of Direct Flight tipped three wide at the 1:23.1 three quarters and chased down the pace setting Feathery Fame and Daniel Dube for a head victory. Stonebridge Kisses and Yannick Gingras was third.

The victory was the 11 of the season in 31 starts for the mare who is owned and trained by Richard Banca.

In the proceeding race, Artbitration and Brian Sears moved into the lead at the :56.4 half, passed the three quarters in 1:24.4 and with a :27.3 final quarter pulled away fro a 2 1/4-length triumph over Odds On Charmaine (Pat Lachance) with Four Starzzzz Ittt (Jim Morrill Jr.) third.

It was the eighth score in 17 starts this year for the 3-year-old Artiscape lass who is owned by Thomas Klosky and trainer Norm Parker.
