Like any good athlete, Passionate Glide shrugged off a nagging hamstring injury to win the $750,000 Hambletonian Oaks for 3-year-old filly trotters at the Meadowlands Saturday afternoon. With Ron Pierce driving for trainer jimmy Takter, Passionate Glide increased her 2006 record to seven wins in seven starts with a 1:54.3 effort.

Pierce sent the 2-5 favored Passionate Glide to the lead approaching the half, and then held off the stretch bid by Emantee and driver Brian Sears to win by about three-quarters of a length. Celebrity Sweedie was third for driver Cat Manzi.

"When you know you have a filly of her caliber...it would have been a shame if she didn't win this race," said Takter.

"Jimmy did a great job of getting the kink out her," added Pierce. "I'm just very, very happy right now. There was so much pressure on us this race, I feel like kissing Jimmy but I'm not going to.""

A daughter of Yankee Glide-Miss Marita, Passionate Glide is owned by breeder George Segal's Brittany Farms. Overall she has won 12 of 18 lifetime starts, and has an eight-race winning streak dating back to last year's Breeders Crown. The win vaulted her career earnings past the $1 million mark to $1,350,447
