Filly pacers to vie at Indy

August 17, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

A full field of nine freshman filly pacers will go to post Saturday, Aug. 19 in the $220,350 Kentuckiana Stallion Management Stake at Indiana Downs. Me And My Baby headlines the field after winning the $45,000 Review Stakes Monday afternoon at Springfield. In addition, millionaire and world champion Loyal Opposition will compete in a $16,000 filly and mare invitational.

Me And My Baby has drawn post seven in the evening’s ninth race for owner Glenby Farms and trainer Bruce Nickells. The Artiscape freshman will look to add her fifth win of the season, and could substantially increase her already-impressive $166,956 bankroll. To her inside is My Fave Wave, a Jate Lobell filly that has finished first or second in each of her four career outings. Owned by Kentuckiana Racing Stable, My Fave Wave enters Saturday’s contest off a narrow loss at Mohawk Raceway. She is trained by Erv Miller.

Absolutelymichelle, runner-up to Me And My Baby in Springfield, will start from post five. The Western Hanover lass is winless in four starts for trainer Ken Rucker, but also registered a second-place finish in three starts at Balmoral Park. Cabana Fever has drawn the eight hole for conditioner Joe Seekman, and looks to go two-for-two in her young career. The Real Desire freshman won the Hanover Stake at Balmoral Park July 9, with only a qualifier on Aug. 9 since then.
