Filly qualifies for Ervin

Elizabeth Ervin, the widow of Hall of Famer Frank Ervin, celebrated her 99th birthday on April 11, and then one week later enjoyed hearing the news that her 3-year-old trotting filly Elizabethan Bay had won a qualifier.

Elizabethan Bay, who was bred by Ervin and her nephew, Jay Farrar, won a qualifier Tuesday morning at Bluegrass Downs. She scored by six lengths in 2:04 with a last half in 1:00.2.

Kentucky horseman Scotty Harris trains Elizabethan Bay, a daughter of Garland Lobell and the Baltic Speed mare Northern Waters.
