Filly wins 18th of year

Rainbow Blue made her first competitive appearance in her home state of Delaware Monday night and won her Matron elim with an easy 1:53 effort. It was the filly's 18th victory in 19 starts this season. L Dee's Val won the second elim in 1:52.



Rainbow Blue, with regular driver Ron Pierce aboard, swept to the front of the field just after passing the half and the race was effectiively over. Rainbow Blue jogged to the half in :55.2 and enjoyed a breather to the three-quarter mark (1:25.1) before brushing home to easily defeat R Burning Desire. Whig Party and Heather's Gambit also advanced.



L Dee's Val, the pacesetter for most of the way, won the second elim by holding off the late rally of Jugette winner Glowing Report at the wire. Kikikatie, given an easy journey at the back of the field by David Miller, took third while Artbitration, who raced third at the rail, passed Ice Sculpture in the stretch to earn the last berth into the final.
