April 28, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The 3-year-old trotter Elizabethan Bay gave 99-year-old Elizabeth Ervin a big win on Thursday night when the filly broke her maiden at Player’s Bluegrass Downs with a 2:04 victory.

Elizabethan Bay is owned and was bred by Mrs. Ervin, the widow of Hall of Famer Frank Ervin, who campaigned such greats as Good Time, Kerry Way and Bret Hanover. Mrs. Ervin and her nephew, Jay Farrar, comprise the Triple E Stable, which is listed as the filly’s owner.

Jeff Cullipher drove Elizabethan Bay for trainer Scotty Harris. Cullipher and the filly started from the rail post and got away third. Cullipher pulled her going to the halfway mark and she coasted through the remainder of the mile with a last half in :59.4.
