Despite being parked the entire mile, The Queen Of Trash won Friday night's $175,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final for 3-year-old filly pacers with a 1:51.3 effort for driver John Campbell. Yannick Gingras found a seam in mid-stretch with Ideal Weather but the bid fell just short, with Pacific Philly and driver David Miller rallying late for third.
Future Destiny and driver Ron Pierce left from the outside post 10 and secured the front from Ideal Weather at the :26.3 quarter. Campbell never found the pylons with The Queen Of Trash but was able to pick up the cover from first-over Bikini Bottom (Andy Miller) past the :55.3 half. Campbell tipped his charge three wide at the 1:24.4 three-quarters and the daughter of Cam's Card Shark was able to outsprint the field home. Ideal Weather appeared to have a chance when Gingras was able to maneuver that one around a tiring Future Destiny, but she just missed by a head.
"I'd never driven her before but I was impressed with the way she's been racing," said Campbell in the winner's circle. The win was her seventh in 10 starts this year after being unraced at two.
Trainer Les Givens added that he had been training The Queen Of Trash for owner-breeder Fred Hertrich, but when he made a decision to sell after qualifying her, Givens said he reached a purchase agreement for owners Donna Messick, Nanticoke Racing and his son, Brandon. Despite having to maneuver with crutches after being hurt in a racing accident at Harrington Raceway, Brandon Givens was in the winner's circle.
