Finally! Moni Maker has a colt!

April 26, 2010 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Moni Maker, the richest trotting mare of all time, finally has a son. The daughter of Speedy Crown, now 17 years old, gave birth to a colt by Deweycheatumnhowe at 1:17 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, at Lindy Farms in Connecticut. Her previous six foals were all fillies.

Moni Maker’s first foal was the filly named Touch Of Moni, and five more fillies followed before the colt. Touch Of Moni and Moni Maker’s second foal, All Our Moni, have both become broodmares and have thus far only produced colts.

Last Thursday at the Meadowlands, Moni Maker’s 3-year-old daughter Nothing But Moni finished fourth in her first qualifying appearance of the year. Frank Antonacci trains the Credit Winner filly. She took a mark of Q2:01.2 last year.

Antonacci also trains Moni Maker’s 2-year-old filly Moni’s No Object, a daughter of Chocolatier.

Moni Maker’s 2009 foal, a daughter of Cantab Hall, was named Can’t Have My Moni.

Geoffrey Stein, a member of the Moni Maker Stable, which raced Moni Maker and still owns the mare, said she will likely be bred to Chocolatier this year.
