Two dozen horses died in a stable fire early Friday at Peretti Farm in New Jersey. The blaze broke out after midnight, claiming 12 mares and 12 foals, WCBS-TV and WCBS radio in New York reported. The cause of the blaze was under investigation, with state police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office arson squad on the scene. Perretti Farms, which bills itself as the state's largest horse farm, specializes in the breeding and racing of standardbred horses on 900 acres.
