October 17, 2004 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The first of two sessions of the annual Forest City Yearling Sale in Ontario was held Sunday and the sale topper was a half sister to $1.1 million winner Peaceful Way. That filly, by Yankee Paco, brought a top bid of $90,000 from trainer Gregg McNair. The 159 yearlings that went through the ring brought an average of $22,794.

Other top prices included the $80,000 Bob McIntosh bid for a colt sired by Apaches Fame. Several yearlings fetched prices in the $70,000 range: a Camluck colt out of the top stakes filly Simply Ravishing brought $75,000; Richard Young bought a Camluck filly for $73,000; Rene Laarman paid $70,000 for an Angus Hall filly out of Fuchsia Hall; a Camluck filly out of Sweet Art was bought by Robert Young for $70,000; and Carl Jamieson paid $70,000 for a filly by Grinfromeartoear.

The second session is scheduled for Monday.
