As Andrew Cohen announced on harnessracing.com’s First Over blog earlier this week, the blog is on hiatus while the web site is retooled for a new look—with new features—for the 2009 racing season. Also, Gen Sullivan will be joining the staff of The Horseman And Fair World magazine, which produces harnessracing.com.
Late Thursday morning the First Over blog became inactive.
“Harnessracing.com will have a new look in early 2009, and we are now beginning to undertake the major redesign and programming required to make new features possible,” said Kathy Parker, editor of harnessracing.com, the web site of The Horseman And Fair World magazine. “For more than 100 years The Horseman And Fair World magazine has been harness racing’s leading independent source of news and information, and we want to take that tradition to a new level by enhancing the web site,” Parker added. “In addition to adding new features to the web site, we also are bringing on board Gen Sullivan, who will join the magazine and web team in Lexington as a news editor in January 2009.” Sullivan, who presently serves as executive director of the Standardbred Retirement Foundation (SRF) and will continue as a volunteer with that organization, has extensive experience in harness racing. Prior to working for SRF she served as Manager of Media Relations for the U.S. Trotting Association’s Harness Racing Communications division, and she has also worked on publicity projects for the Meadowlands and the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown. In addition, she has worked as a caretaker and trainer.
