First session generates $62,361 average

The Standardbred Horse Sales Company finished the first session of its 2007 yearling sale on Monday with $21.9 million in sales for 352 horses sold, generating an average price of $62,361, an increase of 15 percent from last year's opening session.
 
In the 2006 opening session, 356 horses were sold for $19.2 million, resulting in an average price of $54,178. A total of 1,044 horses were sold for a gross of $38.7 million, generating an average price of $37,061.
 
Last year three yearlings brought prices of $300,000 or more. This year's opening session featured seven $300,000 yearlings. The $300,000 parade began with the $325.000 bid for the Revenue sister to Donato Hanover and continued with Bedtime Song, a Windsong's Legacy sister to Pampered Princess, at $360,000; a Muscles Yankee sister to My Starchip at $300,000; and a full brother to Creamy Mimi for $325,000; a brother to Muscle Mass for $320,000; a brother to Magic Swan for $300,000; a sister to My Starchip for $300,000; and a full sister to 2005 Horse of the Year Rocknroll Hanover for $300,000.
 
In addition to the seven $300,000 yearlings, another eight sold for more than $200,000. Overall, 64 yearlings brought a price of $100,000 or more, 13 more than the 51 yearlings sold for more than $100,000 during last year's opening session.
