Windsong's Legacy and Rainbow Blue were among five horses to be voted the best of their respective divisions when Dan Patch Award finalists were announced Monday by the U.S. Harness Writers Association (USHWA). Also locking up honors early by being the only recipient of at least 10 percent of the vote within their divisions were the 2-year-old trotting colt Ken Warkentin, the 2-year-old pacing colt Village Jolt, and the 3-year-old trotting filly Housethatruthbuilt.

Other finalists are Cabrini Hanover and Restive Hanover in the 2-year-old filly pacer division; Flirtin Miss and Solveig in the 2-year-old filly trot division; Holborn Hanover, Timesareachanging and Western Terror in the 3-year-old male pacer division; Four Starzzz Shark and Royal Mattjesty in the older male pacer division; Mr. Muscleman, Revenue and HP Paque in the older male trotter division; Bunny Lake, Carolina Sunshine, Eternal Camnation and Loyal Opposition in the older mare pacer division; and Windylane Hanover and Stroke Play in the older mare trotter division.

A total of 227 USHWA members participated in the voting, meaning a horse had to be named on 23 ballots to qualify as a finalist. The Dan Patch Award winners will be honored at USHWA's Night of Stars awards banquet Feb. 13 at Caesars in Atlantic City, N.J.
