Thursday's Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel is reporting a compromise agreement appears to have been reached between the Florida State House and Senate regarding the addition of slot machines at racetracks and a jai-alai fronton in Broward County, including Pompano Park. The proposed agreement calls for the machines to be the Senate-preferred Las Vegas-style machines, which give higher payouts, instead of the House-preferred bingo-like machines that are operated on Indian reservations, with a 55-percent tax on profits.
