Flo Finds Another Win

Return Home
March 31, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Heavy rainfall and a sloppy racing surface were no obstacles for Flo Found George, who took the featured $10,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at Pompano Park Friday to win for the second time in her last three starts.

Starting from post five in the Friday feature with Bruce Ranger at the lines, Flo Found George briefly dueled for the lead with All About Maggie (John Kakaley) before clearing that rival on the first turn and taking the field through an opening quarter mile in :28.1.

After catching a second-panel breather in :30 to reach the half-mile pole in :58.1, Flo Found George continued to lead down the backstretch as Maresey Doats (Wally Hennessey) moved first over to apply mild pressure from the outside, through a three-quarters split in 1:27.1.

As the field moved through the final turn, Flo Found George turned back the challenge of Maresey Doats and entered the stretch with a five-length advantage.

Flo Found George was never threatened down the lane, prevailing by 4 1/2 lengths at the wire in 1:54.3. The pocket-sitting All About Maggie crossed the wire second while Maresey Doats weakened in the lane to finish third.

Flo Found George returned $3.40, $2.80, $2.40 for the victory. All About Maggie paid $10.00, $4.20 for second, while Maresey Doats brought in $2.40 for third.

Owned by the Booff Stable and Steve Goldberg of Glen Ridge, N.J., Flo Found George is a 4-year-old daughter of Dream Away, out of the No Nukes mare Cold and Clear. The Anthony Faulkner trainee has prevailed in nine of 22 starts during her career and has a lifetime bankroll of $162,976.
