Florida Governor Charlie Crist has reached a deal with the Seminole tribe for a new gambling pact, and while it could mean up to $6.8 billion to the state of Florida over the next 20 years, it also would lock some pari-mutuel operators out of the casino business. Florida lawmakers must now approve the deal negotiated by the governor.
According to a story posted by the South Florida Sun Sentinel, some Florida lawmakers have wanted to limit blackjack at Seminole resorts to Broward County and Tampa and keep the door open for pari-mutuel racetracks to add new games.
