Foiled Again draws the rail in Levy

Defending champion Foiled Again drew post position No. 5 for Saturday night's $460,000 final of Yonkers Raceway's George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series.

The Levy, harness racing's richest race to date this season, goes as the eighth race on the 12-race card. First post is 7:10 PM, with the feature going at  approximately 9:50 PM.

Foiled Again, this season's series points leader on the strength of three wins and two seconds in five preliminary leg starts, again retains the driving services  of Jason Bartlett.

"He was better last week (season's-best 1:52.3) than he's been all year," Bartlett said. "There's a lot of early speed in this race on both sides. From mid-pack, I really don't know what to expect...just have to see how it develops."

Ron Burke trains the millionaire 6-year-old Dragon Again gelding for Burke Racing, Weaver Bruscemi and JJK Stables.
Foiled Again is joined in the wagering wars--and right next door on the starting gate--by Atochia (Dave Palone, post 4). The begin as the 8-5 early favorites.

The final of the Levy offers not one, but two parimutuel entries for your dining and dancing pleasure. George Teague pins his hopes and dreams on  millionaires Mr. Wiggles (Corey Callahan, post 1) and Southwind Lynx (Tim Terick, post 7), both of whom he also co-owns.

Mr. Wiggles, thrice a bridesmaid to begin this series, ended with consecutive victories, while Southwind Lynx, the 2007 Art Rooney Pace winner, also won  three of his five prelim performances.

The field for the final of the 2010 George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series, with declared drivers and morning-line odds...

1-Mr..Wiggles (Corey Callahan, 3-1); 2-Poker Hat (Brett Miller, 6-1); 3-River Shark (Dan Dube 9-5);  4-Atochia (Dave Palone, 8-5); 5-Foiled Again  (Jason Bartlett, 8-5, coupled with Atochia); 6-Legal Litigator (Driver TBA, 8-1); 7-Southwind Lynx (Tim Tetrick, 3-1, coupled with Mr. Wiggles); 8-Tenant in  Chief (Brent Holland, 20-1).

Saturday's card also features the $237,000 final of the Blue Chip Matchmaker (7th race, approximate post 9:20 PM), with eight leading ladies on display.

The runway reads like this: 1-Ubetterthink Think (Brandon Simpson, 5-1); 2-Ramona Disomma (Greg Grismore, 5-1); 3-Ginger and Fred (Tetrick, 9-5); 4-Shanghai Lil (Stephane  Bouchard, 6-1), 5-On the Glass (Bartlett, 3-1); 6-Little Mermaid N (Jim Pantaleano, 15-1); 7-McGibson (Palone, 12-1); 8-Symphony in Motion (Jeff Gregory,  10-1).

Please note that all mares--two are trained by Burke, two are trained by Mark Ford--race uncoupled due to bona fide separate ownership.

Series consolations go as races 4 (Matchmaker, $75,000) and 6 (Levy, $100,000), respectively.

The Raceway added Wednesday nights to its live schedule and eliminate Thursday nights. First post for all programs (Monday, Tuesday,   Wednesday,  Friday and Saturday) remains at 7:10 PM.

Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting available around the NYRA schedule. Please also be advised that while afternoon simulcasting continues around the NYRA schedule, Thursday afternoon simulcasting shall end at approximately 5:30 PM. (Yonkers)
