Foiled Again, the richest-ever Standardbred, added to his laurels on Thursday night at Dover Downs when he led gate to wire to win in 1:52.4. Foiled Again was sent off the 1-2 betting favorite in the $15,000 conditioned event, and driver Yannick Gingras had no problems as the 13-year-old gelding cruised to a 2 1/2-lengh score over runner-up Don't Ya Know (Corey Callahan).
Thursday night's start was the 278th of Foiled Again's career, and the 92nd victory. The winner's share of the purse brought his record earnings to $7,481,983 for owners Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and JJK Stables. The son of Dragon Again is trained by Ron Burke.
The win was the first in five starts this year for Foiled Again, and his first in eight starts dating back to a 1:53.4 victory on Oct. 22 at Yonkers. That effort was Foiled Again's third win in four starts, which included the $50,000 Kane Invitational on Oct. 8 at Batavia Downs.
