Ford's mother passes

Bettie Jean Ford, 78, mother of trainer Mark Ford, died Saturday at the Charleston (W.Va.) Area Medical Center of heart failure. She followed her son's career and attended the Little Brown Jug when Gallo Blue Chip competed.

Born in Ronceverte, W. Va., she was a lifelong resident of Greenbrier County and a a member of the St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Ronceverte. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Peters Academy in Cleveland, Ohio, and employed by the West Virginia Department of Employment Security for many years.

In addition to her son Mark, she is survived by her husband of 56 years, Frank; anotehr son, Matthew; two grandchildren, Eric and Haley Dawn Ford; and an uncle, Bill Stone of Ronceverte.

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Ronceverte.

Friends may call between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte.
