The Forest City Yearling Sale held its annual two-day fall sale Sunday-Monday, Oct. 17-18, and sold 314 yearlings for an average price of $22,773(C), or $18,171 in U.S. dollars. That was a decline of five percent from the average price attained at last year's sale when fewer yearlings were sold for an average of $23,922.

Three yearlings brought prices of $100,000 or more: Stonebridge Prima, a Camluck filly out of the productive Fran Seelster, brought a bid of $110,000 from trainer Nat Varty, who was acting as agent. Bred and consigned by Stonebridge Farm, the filly is a full sister to Stonebridge Premio p,3, 1:52.1 ($495,155) and a half sister to Stonebridge Prize p,3, 1:52.2 ($473,295).

A full sister to this year's top 3-year-old pacing colt Geartogear brought a winning bid of $100,000 from owner Wendy Spring, whose family campaigns the great pacing mare Bunny Lake. Named Nascar Babe, the daughter of Grinfromeartoear-Pole Sitter was consigned by Kentuckiana Farm.

Trainer Bob McIntosh bid $100,000 for the Camluck filly Northern Empress. Consigned by Northfields Farm as agent, the filly's dam is a half sister to the millionaire DM Dilinger.

The top price for a trotting-bred yearling was the $90,000 paid for Stonebridge Lure, a Yankee Paco half sister to the million-dollar winner Peaceful Way. Trainer Gregg McNair signed the sales slip.
