Published reports state Mark Vogel, who purchased Rosecroft Raceway in 1987 and later sold it to Cloverleaf Enterprises in 1995, is interested in re-purchasing the bankrupt racetrack and pushing for expanded gaming. Vogel was quoted as saying that he hopes an agreement can be reached so that live racing can resume at Rosecroft in 2010. The reports noted that Vogel, who also previously owned Ocean Downs, assumed $6 million in long-term debut when he bought Rosecroft, later losing both tracks to bankruptcy in 1991. The real estate developer said he hopes to build a restaurant or café at the track, repave the parking lot, and provide free rental of the facility’s third floor to for fundraisers hosted by non-profit organizations and charities.
