Foxy gets Dan Patch nod

When Hoosier Park conducted the draw for the $200,000 Dan Patch Invitational Pace Wednesday afternoon, the name of Foxy Maneuver was added. Director of Racing Kevin Mack invited the Don Eash-trained pacer after receiving notice that Team Hutch will forego Saturday’s contest. Foxy Maneuver won last Saturday’s Dan Patch prep race, which included five other invitees, in 1:50.2 while Team Hutch finished last in the event.

Foxy Maneuver joins fellow Indiana-sired contestant Rebelman in Hoosier Park’s signature event. Traditionally Mack has reserved one spot in the field for a local favorite. This year the Dan Patch will feature two entrants that call the Anderson oval their home track.

“Oh no, they’ll hold their own,” Mack said of both Hoosier products. “I’m not worried about them too much. They’ll be fine.”

Saturday’s start in the Dan Patch will be the first for Rebelman and owner-trainer Steve Brannan. Foxy Maneuver will make his third start. He will join Eaton Road Kill and 2003 winner Sharky Spur as only the third horse to do so. The 7 year old scored consecutive fourth-place finishes in the 2003 and 2004 renewals.

Here is the draw for the $200,000 Dan Patch Invitational:

1. Foxy Maneuver (Don Eash)
2. Casimir Camotion (George Brennan)
