Frank Salive, one of the premier race-callers in the sport of harness racing, has been named the new announcer at the isle pompano park in Florida. Known to many as the “voice of Canadian racing,” Salive will move south of the border to assume his new position at the beginning of Pompano’s 2009-2010 season, which gets underway next month. He will also assume the role of publicity manager.
Michael Bloom, vice president and general manager at Pompano Park, said, “We are extremely fortunate to have Frank on our team. He created an incredible legacy in Canada and I am confident that he will do the same for the isle pompano park with his fan base, which is, literally, worldwide.”
Commenting on his new, expanded role at the isle pompano park, Salive said, “I consider this a true honor and privilege. To work at a major track in the United States, well, it’s just awesome and fulfills a long term goal.”
Most recently, Salive has been race announcer and publicist for several tracks including Western Fair, Clinton, Hanover, Woodstock and Grand River. From 1991 through 2005, he was the lead announcer on the Woodbine/Mohawk circuit. (isle Pompano Park)
