Fraternity Party won for the fourth time in five career starts in Pennsylvania Sire Stakes action at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on Tuesday afternoon. There were three divisions held for 2-year-old trotting colts and geldings. Horses had their last chance to amass points in Tuesday’s fourth and final leg of the series in an attempt to reach the Pennsylvania Championship finals to be held at Pocono on Saturday, Sept. 16.

Trainer-driver Jan Johnson found a spot in the pocket with Fraternity Party behind pacesetter Que Pasa, then easily trotted on by in the stretch in a winning time of 1:59.2. Grant finished second in the race while Que Pasa faded to third. The last two of Fraternity Party’s wins have come in Sire Stakes competition.

Viking Rojan won in the second division, picking up his maiden win in the process. George Napolitano Jr., who had five wins on the day’s card, followed live cover with Viking Rojan, trained by Trond Smedshammer. The colt swung three wide around the final turn and just got up for the win in 1:58.3. Springboard finished second and Light Headed was third.

In the final division, trainer-driver Ray Paver gunned Neely Dunn out to a huge lead and was able to hang on for the victory. Penn Monie Mosie was second while Anderberg came home third.

Joining Fraternity Party, Que Pasa, Penn Monie Mosie, and Springboard in the top eight in the group standings are Mythical Lindy, who was unbeaten in the first three legs and did not race Tuesday, Monkey Bones, Keystone Brady and Peaceful Prince. Those top eight will have the first crack at entering the finals. (Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs)
