Free admission at Dover

March 26, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

It was "free admission "at Dover Downs on Sunday as Free Admission, the Powerful Toy 3-year-old filly, along with Double Flip, won their Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) first leg preliminaries along with Mr. Aviator, Be Bad Bill and Skeleton Key, the colt division winners, in $20,000 paces.

Steve Warrington took Free Admission into the early lead and set all the pace in a 1:56.1 victory in her first 2007 start. Leased by Joe and JoAnn Thomson, of Chesapeake City, Md., Free Admission was never tested in her first prelim besting runner-up Love And Truth, another Powerful Toy filly, and Tim Tetrick by two lengths. Nono Yezz Rusty, by Badlands Hanover, with Brad Hanners driving, finished third.

In the other filly section, the Badlands Hanover daughter Double Flip and Tony Morgan was equally impressive in 1:56.1 for owners Winbak Farm and John and Earl Wagner in an early non-wagering race. Entrymate On Stage Sizzle, by Powerful Toy, piloted by Ben Stafford Jr. was an impressive second. Miss Fanelli, a Badlands Hanover filly, teamed with Kevin Sizer for third.

Mr. Aviator, winner of the $100,000 DSBF final at two, chalked up the fastest of the prelim wins in 1:55.2. Owned by Trevor Warwick and Peter George, the Badlands Hanover colt was an easy winner for Kevin Sizer. Main-A-Dieu with Tim Curtin finished second in front of Sun Power with Ben Stafford Jr.

Be Bad Bill romped to a 1:55.4 score in his $20,000 DSBF colt and gelding prelim. Ross Wolfenden took the Badlands Hanover gelding right to the front and stayed there. Another Badlands Hanover gelding, Andiamo Subito with Hanners, was next. Rusty's Carma, reined by Morgan, was the show finisher.

The third and last DSBF colt pace resulted in a mild surprise when Stafford guided Chang Racing Dynasty's Skeleton Key along the passing lane to overtake front-pacing Jesse N Echo, driven by Morgan, in the final steps of a 1:56.1 mile. Tetrick drove Allamerican Reason to a third-place finish. All three are sons of Badlands Hanover. (Dover Downs)
