She's So Hot lived up to her name, winning the $50,000 Illinois State Fair Colt Stakes final for 2-year-old filly pacers in a stakes and season's record 1:51.1 at Springfield Friday. The six finals for state-bred 2 and 3 year olds were delayed a day due to rain on Thursday.
With Dave Magee in the bike, the daughter of Richess Hanover popped out of the two hole at the head of the stretch and overtook the upset-minded Party Paula in deep stretch for her sixth straight victory and eighth of the year in nine starts.
The winner is trained by Rick Schrock for owner-breedrs Jim and Donna Crebs. The filly comes from the maternal family begun by their first racing star, Fox Valley Redhot, who died earlier this year.
Spread The Chips went wire to wire, just as she did in her elimination a week earlier, and captured the final for 2-year-old troting fillies in 1:56.1 for Andy Miller. The Valley victory lass won for the ninth time in 15 starts for owners Tina and Patrick Graham and trainer Thomas Grummel.
Maxter held off the field in the stretch to secure his fifth straight triumph in the 2-year-old colt and gelding trot final. Magee drove the Valley Victory gelding for trainer Roger Welch and owner Turndorf Racing LLC.
Longshot (8-1) Mucho Sleazy shook loose in deep stretch and captured the 2-year-old colt and gelding pace final in 1:51.1 for Mike Oosting. The Sporsmaster gelding recorded his second win of the year in seven starts for trainer Ken Rucker and the Engle Stable LLC.
Star Swager took advantage of a second-over trip to spring home with a 1:55 victory in the 3-year-old filly trot final for Dale Hiteman. The daughter of Valley Victory scored for the third time in 16 trips behind the gate for trainer Joel Smith and owners Bianna Walton and Paula Smith.
Kiss Of Heaven swooped into the lead on the far turn and held on down the stretch to win the 3-year-old filly pace final in 1:50.3 for Brent Holland. Erv Miller trains the Cole Muffler lass who won ofr the fourth time in eight starts this year for owners MJG Racing Stable, Hill View Enterprises and Andy Willinger.
